Study in Germany

Germany has world renowned colleges and university with excellent reputations for providing a good quality education of national and international students. Some of these universities & collages have been existence for over seven hundred years.

German High School provides 13 years of secondary education. International students from Non-EU countries therefore need to complete mandatory a 1 year of a course called student College that qualifies them to enter for undergraduate course in Germany.

One has to complete a 16 years of education in order to qualify for a master's Program. In master's program the student is given an option to use German or English language to complete the program. If you wish to use the English language as the medium for learning, you need to show your proficiency in the English language by taking TOEFL or an IELTS course and gaining a suitable score for enrolment. However, if you wish to option for German Language as a medium for learning .you need to prove your efficiency in the German Language. Most of the Nepali student opt for the English language as a medium for learning for obvious reasons.

Process:

Germany has 16 states. All States have different policy for admission into universities but the general rule is that there are two sessions per year. The deadline for intakes for winter semester is 15th July and for summer semester is 15th January. All the students are advised to apply for admission as early as possible as the processing for application can be time consuming depending on the competence of the student, the university or the state that the application has been applied to.

Can I work while studying?

Yes, it is possible to work while you are studying. The general rule is that you are allowed to work for only 20 hours per week and this can vary depending which state you are studying in Germany. The chance of employment depends on your fluency in the German language. You are cautioned that wage earned is not sufficient to bear all your costs of living therefore you should have enough finance to cover your general costs like accommodation and transports for at least one year.
